PTAS-ITS have the following vacancies available for work in Negara Brunei Darussalam.

(1) SENIOR INSPECTORS
Candidates should be conversant with international codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API,
etc) and possess a minimum of 10 years experience in the inspection and quality control field
within the Oil and Gas industry.

The technical qualification requirements are:

• CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector

OR

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector with CSWIP Level 2 or PCN Level 2 or ASNT
  Level 2 in Radiographic Interpretation

OR

• CSWIP 3.1 with CSWIP Level 2 or PCN Level 2 or ASNT Level 2 in Radiographic
  Interpretation

AND

• minimum NACE Level 2 or CSWIP BGAS Grade 2

PLUS

• have or have had 2 other NDT/NDE qualifications (MT, PT, RT, UT)

(2) WELDING INSPECTORS
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience in welding inspection.

The technical qualification requirements are:

• CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector

OR

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector

AND

• CSWIP/ASNT/PCN Radiographic Interpretation Level 2

(3) MULTI-DISCIPLINE INSPECTORS
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry.

The technical qualification requirements are:

• ASNT/PCN/CSWIP UT, RT, MT and PT Level 2

(4) OCTG QC INSPECTOR (BRUNEI)
The applicant should possess a minimum of 5 years experience in the QC inspection of the
following:

• Drillpipe
• Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) / Rotary drilling connections
• Casing & Tubing
• Wellhead & Christmas trees
• Wireline Tools
• Fishing & Drilling Tools

The minimum certification required is ASNT Level ll in MT and PT.

Other requirements are:

1. must be experienced in OCTG Inspection, including hard-banding
2. able to perform calibration on all inspection equipment
3. revise existing work instructions
4. must have a good knowledge and understanding with the requirements of API, NS-2
and DS-1 specifications
5. good communication skills and fully computer literate
6. must be eligible to work in Brunei Darussalam full time

(5) OCTG QA/QC INSPECTOR
The applicant should possess a minimum of 5 years experience in the QA/QC inspection
of the following:

• Drillpipe
• Bottom hole assembly (BHA) / rotary drilling connections
• Casing and tubing
• Wellhead and Christmas trees
• Wireline tools
• Fishing and drilling tools

The minimum certifications required are:

• ASNT Level II in MT and PT
• Internal Auditor qualifications to ISO 9001

The candidate should be able to perform the following:

1. calibration on all inspection equipment
2. revise work instructions
3. prepare new work instructions/procedures as well as inspection and test plans to
suit working processes
4. control of non conforming products
5. provide resolution expertise on QC issues
6. update API and NS standard requirements
7. ensure work is performed in accordance with both the applicable standards, procedures
and work instructions
8. conduct verification of work performed by QC inspectors

Other requirements are:

1. must have good background in OCTG Inspection and hardbanding
2. must have a good knowledge and understanding with API, NS-2 and DS-1 specifications
3. good communication skills and fully computer literate
4. must be eligible to work in Brunei Darussalam full time

2 minggu lepas aku pergi buat offshore routine medical check up kat twin tower medical center, klcc. aku buat appointment sehari sebelum pergi. so, esoknya aku pergi la..pagi-pagi dah keluar rumah, malam tu puasa lah,macam biasa la nak buat offshore medical check up kan..

mula-mula check mata, result - no problem, mata ok

lepas tu check hearing, result - no problem, ok jugak

relax jap, lepas tu mula la datang episod-episod cuak yang meng’gabra’kan hidup aku. maklum la, kalau kantoi medical camane nak pergi offshore ? sekarang ni, aku tak nampak kerja lain yang aku boleh buat selain ke laut..( macam nelayan la pulak.. )

mula-mula tu, derang panggil check jantung, pakai cable2 yang lekat kat badan..kira ok la juga..

dah habis check jantung, pergi buat ‘lung test’..mak datok! rasa setengah mati, terbatuk-batuk, terbahak-bahak..punya la susah nak lepas test tu..untuk orang lelaki yang sihat..kalau nak kerja laut la kan..at least kena lepas 3.0..5-6 kali aku buat test tu, hembus macam nak mati,reading 2.6-2.8 je..

brader tu pulak memang baik hati la, ok la jugak dia bagi try  banyak kali..kalau tak,tak tau la..tapi, cuak gak aku bila dia tanya aku..”ni nak kerja ke tak nak?” cuak beb! tak pasal2 aku tak boleh pergi offshore lagi..selamat la..last-last ok gak..

lepas tu aku pergi buat x-ray, aku cakap ko..gelap gila paru-paru aku..huhuhuhu..14 tahun dah aku jadi ‘perokok tegar’…3 hari lepas tu  ambik result..selamat aku..dapat la naik offshore untuk 3 tahun lagi..

moral dia kat sini, yang aku nak kongsi dengan korang semua..aku insaf gila, taubat aku.. brader tu ada cerita juga..ramai la, khususnya ‘perokok‘ la..muda-muda lagi, umur 30-an dah ramai yang sakit jantung..semuanya sebab rokok..

so, jom la kita ramai-ramai berhenti merokok..

here’s some basic about welding inspector that you guys should know..in case you guys forgot

Q : what mean make a good welding inspector?
A : good communications, good reading, good eye sight, honest and fit.

Q : what about the duties and responsibilities?
A : ensure compliance with the specification, police manufacture and collect and collate information.

Q : tools?
A: note book, magnifying glass, digital thermometer, amp meter (tong tester), torch light,
fillet gauge, templisticks, welding gauge, mirror, etc
